Cruise on the Yasawa Princess Cruise is a delightful addition to this tropical island paradise of Maldives. Those who cruise on it find a new addiction that temp them to return every year. It has many characterisitcs that create this a different from your usual holiday where you are likely to check in to a hotel and do some activities. Staying on board for a week or two ( Yasawa offers two packages) create excellent opportunity find new like minded friends and also find your Maldives family the crew members. This itinerary is created with diving, snorkeling, BBQ on picnic islands, visiting nearby luxury resorts and indulge yourself in nothing but the pure blue sky and the turquoise color sea for two weeks.
Day 1 ( Monday)
Your arrival at the Maldives reaches a culmination when you board Yasawa Princess, which is usually anchored just off Villingili. This is just 20 minutes away from Male International airport. Upon arrival, you are welcomed and assisted to board the boat by our Guest Relations officer. The role of the GRO is to welcome you, and ensure that you are comfortably settled in your cabin, as you prepare to board Yasawa the following day. As you relax in the cabin, you are briefed and taken through the anticipated experience aboard Yasawa Princess. Later in the afternoon, you’ll be taken to meet the crew, divers, as well as other guests who’ll board the Yasawa; all these will be your immediate family during the whole cruise adventure.
Having spent the night resting, you now get a chance to depart from Male’ anchorage, and sail towards Kuda Bandos. Kunda Bandos means Picnic Island, and is located in North Male Atoll. You’ll spend the morning and afternoon in this romantic picnic island, and can engage in snorkeling during your stay. You also get a chance to sunbathe on the white sandy beaches of the Indian Ocean. There are also nice diving sites, and later in the evening you can sit and watch as the sun goes down in the horizon.
Depart from Kuda Bandos, and sail across a narrow channel known as the Vaadhoo Channel, before arriving at South Male’ Atoll. The reef around South Male Atoll has beautiful corals, and is full of marine life and fish. Complete with beach umbrellas, this is a great place to relax, watch the marine life, and get a quick nap right on the shores of the Ocean. As the evening approaches, you again depart for Maadhoo Finolu, where you’ll spend the night.
Maadhoo Finolhu Picnic Island offers many activities to indulge in. Your day starts at 1000Hrs, and you’ll adventure round the island until 1600Hrs, when you return to the vessel. Picnic lunch is served, and for snorkeling lovers, there is a huge lagoon ideal for just that. Between 1730Hrs and 1930Hrs, you can join other guests for nigh fishing using baits and traditional hard lines.
Start your day early, and board the cruise ship as you head towards Vaavu Atoll. You’ll anchor at Alimatha Sand bank, located on the Atoll’s eastern edge. Again beautiful coral reefs, a turquoise lagoon, beach umbrellas, and you’ll decide what fun activity you wish to indulge in. Night fishing is also available, and in this part of the Atoll, Nurse Sharks and Sting Rays can be spotted swimming in the refs at night. Most guests love this place.
Vashugiri is a serene picnic island, and this is where you head on the morning of your 6th day. Beach lovers are treated to huts and sun loungers, plus an evening BBQ. Dinner is set in the moonlight, and guests can also enjoy some drinks and music right there in the beach
Cross to the South Ari Atoll early in the morning, to reach Oshagali Finolhu. Snorkelers love the reef here, thanks to the hard and healthy corals found. Nigh fishing is also available here, plus Whale and Shark excursions where you can dive with expert divers to watch and observe these gentle giants of nature. This particular part of the Maldives has more whales and sharks than anywhere else.
You can end the 7 nights cruise here and transfer to Male’ to head back home on the morning of day 8
As the sun rises, you’ll find yourself cruising to Ariadhoo, which is famous for its extensive plantation. Ariadhoo is an agricultural hub, and while here, you can sunbathe or just swim around the warm waters. For guests whose trip was one week long, here is where they board a flight at Maamagili Airport and land at Male’ International airport, before catching an international flight out of the Maldives.
Cruise to Hurasdhoo in the morning, and sight see this beautiful deserted island. Again, this is a snorkeler’s paradise, beach umbrellas are provided, and lunch will be served right there in the island. Night fishing is done the traditional way, and you can actually get a fish and have it prepared by the chefs for you, and have it for dinner!
The cruise journey brings you to Raidhigaa, a beautiful island with a natural harbor. The island has a natural lagoon, and expert snorkelers can easily swim to the deep waters right from the beach. Lunch is served, and by 1600Hrs, you return to the vessel again.
Wake up to a morning cruise towards Meerufenfushi, in the heart of the Ari Atoll. The beach is beautiful here, white sandy beaches, and when it is evening time, BBQ dinner is served in the moonlight and stars. There’s also plenty of entertainment on the beach at night, including music and traditional dances.
By now, you must have had plenty of snorkeling, swimming, and beach fun, so you cruise towards Velidhu Island Resort. This island is serene, calm, and has a beach bar and restaurant, even a spa! Get some drinks, then spend some time in the world class spa, and get that much needed massage.
Wake up to an early morning cruise to Maafyushi Sand bank. This area is a paradise for bird watchers; the Seabirds here in their thousands flock to this sand bar. Again spend the day here sun bathing, swimming, snorkeling, and if you still have the energy, go enjoy some night fishing with professional guides.
Take your last swim, as you prepare to head back to Male’. The journey from here to Male’ takes about 5 hours. Male’s is Maldive’s capital city, and once you’re back here, get to meet the people and know their culture, grab an ice cream, buy souvenirs, before a final special dinner is served.
This marks the end of your 2 week cruise, and a nice breakfast is served on the shores of the Indian Ocean. Departure to the airport is arranged, you can grab some last minute photos and selfies with other guests and the crew or divers, before catching your flight home at Male’ International Airport.

2. If an inland is not available for whatever reason, an alternative one with similar features and activities will be offered.
