Many of Sri Lanka’s beaches can only be described as idyllic. Last House in Tangalle, more like a private luxury house than a hotel, is located by such a beach. Free from throngs of people that crowd other locations guests can go to the beach through a gate at the bottom of the garden anytime they feel like a swim or a walk.
With only six bedrooms the Last House is ideal for family holidays and celebrations when the whole house can be taken over or used as a brief retreat on the way to attractions in southern Sri Lanka. All rooms are spacious and the ones upstairs have great views of the sea and surroundings and open onto deep balconies while the rooms downstairs also overlook the sea and open out into the garden. All rooms feature four poster beds and traditional Sri Lankan furniture to suit the style of the house. The addition of modern amenities have made these spacious rooms really comfortable.
Meals are informal affairs and guests can choose to eat in the dining room that overlooks the sea or opt for the privacy of the verandas by their rooms. Food is more of a fusion of international and Sri Lankan flavors with seafood and fresh local produce a part of every meal. Light snacks and a selection of beverages are available throughout the day. As the hotel has no bar guests are free to bring their own booze for which there is no charge.
Leisure should be the top priority of guests who choose to stay here as the laid back location and the casual ambience of the hotel encourages a lazy life style. Lounging by the pool, swimming, snorkeling, surfing, walking along the 2 km beach, visiting nearby rural areas or simply sleeping in late are the things to do here.
