Jetwing Blue is one of the many jewels in the crown of Jetwing Hotels Group, which span across the varied landscape of this beautiful island, with over 25 unique, individual properties.
Jetwing Blue is one of the Group’s prime beach resorts, located in the ancient town of Negombo, on the West coast of the island just 38 kms from the capital Colombo, and a 20-minute drive from the country’s International Airport.
Whilst providing all the facilities and creature comforts one would expect from a star class beach hotel, it stands out structurally and aesthetically from the rest of the many hotels and guest houses spread along the beach strip in this resort area.
The accommodation covers a range of over 110 rooms with 80 deluxe, 21 super deluxe and 6 luxury suites. Three family rooms and 8 annex rooms complete the variety, with thought given to 2 rooms for the differently abled. All accommodation boasts of luxuriant furnishings and all standard amenities becoming of a star class hotel of this calibre.
Recreational facilities at the hotel include two swimming pools, a fully equipped gym, and a children’s play area. Dining and bar facilities are well provided for with a main restaurant – styled as an open show kitchen with a la carte menu and lunch buffet; the `Centre Point grill and bar’ serves light meals and snacks; and the `Float Bar’ has a wide array of the finest wines and liquor for the discerning palette. Guests can also opt for a Barbecue on the beach, alfresco dinner on the terrace or even a romantic spa dinner.
A tour of the Negombo town is a must, providing an insight into its colonial past. The Portuguese Fort within the town still stands as a monument to their presence in the 16th century. The many canals laid out later by the Dutch can also be seen on a tour of the area evidencing the commercial trade set up during colonial times. Boat trips down the canals are arranged by the Hotel, as are sea excursions in fishing boats for the more adventurous. For those who prefer an ecological tour, a boat trip through the mangrove swamps of the nearby Muthurajawela forest reserve with its variety of fauna and flora, will provide a truly satisfying excursion.
A stay at the Jetwing Blue will not confine one merely to the sun and sand, and the many indulgences afforded by a beach hotel of this class – but it also offers the exploring tourist a glimpse of the lush countryside combined with the contrast of an ancient town now bustling with heightened commercial activity.
