If you love Coffee, classical setting that surrounded with history, art and culture, Pedlar’s Inn Cafe’ will be a pleasant surprise for you!
The Galle Fort Streets are our favorite place to repeat. We aren’t alone when we say that we repeat Galle Fort Street in every occasion we make our way anywhere near this UNESCO World Heritage site. The interlocked streets of Galle Fort offer plenty of tempting shopping for antique lovers, jewellery and clothing. Personally, I enjoy walking down these Dutch and Portuguese built fort as it is refreshing and thought provoking.
Find the Pedlar’s Street, walk to the rare end, there is the Pedlar’s Inn Coffee shop. It is a coffee shop that has won the hearts of many and continue to attract regulars all the way from Colombo. I’ve met many expats based in Colombo said, walking down the Galle Fort Streets and end the day sipping a coffee at Pedlar’s Inn is their favourite quick getaway during a weekend.
There are plenty of classical hotels in the fort too if you want to spend time without having to move any where else.
Pedlar’s Inn Coffee shop belongs to Abdul Azeez, who inherited a 200 years old property and he does it very well!
As you step in there, the staff will welcome you warmly and standby to offer their service. They seems to be knowledgable not only about the menu but also the history of the property. Although I usually prefer to sit outside enjoying the day go by, this is one of the coffee shops that I’d definitely walk inside. Walk pass the reception area and you’ll find that it has three separate areas ideal to bring a bunch friends or a family. It is cozy and relaxing. It does reminds me of some of the Coffee shops in Covent Garden in London but Pedlar’s Inn will probably score high for its design, the history and its location. Needless to mention that it is the most characterful Coffee shop by far in the area.
There is a long wooden table in the loft where an open roof to the side, creating an ideal setting for a meeting. Then there are two areas where you can sit and relax after a long walk under the sun as it is cooler, and once stayed for a little long you might disconnect yourself from the rest of the world. If you are a writer or a blogger this will be an ideal stop to sit and start writing while enjoying a coffee. The only downside is parking, as it is located a ten minutes walk away. But it also allow you to take a walk and slow down with the charms of this laid back street full of shopping and character.
